Pop Culture Controversy Shirt Designs

These are t-shirt designs that I made and produced. My inspiration came from the idolization of pop culture and the news stories that impact the public. Celebrities are criticized constantly for the clothes they wear, the comments they make, and the things they do. At the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Nicki Minaj made a rude comment about Miley Cyrus in her acceptance speech, sarcastically ending it with “Miley, what’s good?” This controversial dispute resulted in dramatic reactions from viewers. Another controversy from 2015 occured when footage of Ariana Grande was leaked of her licking a donut in a public bakery and jokingly saying, “I hate America”. Her comment and actions were taken out of context and criticized, resulting in harsh reactions from the public. These shirts make fun of these controversies, making a statement on how trivial they are in comparison to the important issues in today’s society.
